The Elections Petitions Tribunal sitting in Jalingo has nullified the victory of Mr. Abel Diah and thereby his position as speaker of the Taraba State House of Assembly.
The tribunal delivered ruling on a petition brought before it by the candidate of the All Progressives Congress Mr. Emmanuel Bongo who had claimed that elections in the nine polling units in the state were marred by irregularities. In its ruling, the tribunal ruled that elections in eight out of the nine polling units in the state did not meet the provisions of the 2010 electoral act.
It therefore directed the INEC to set aside the certificate of return issued Mr. Abel and to conduct fresh elections within ninety days.
