RISING SPATE OF ROBBERY IN LAGOS: I RECEIVE AT LEAST FOUR ALERTS DAILY

A new wave of vice seems to be trending in Lagos state and that is street robbery. Repeated cases of  unchallenged day time intimidation and forceful dispossession of citizens' properties is been reported each day but the state's police seem to have no response to this anomaly just as is traditional with her.
In a new wave of the incidence reported from Ajah area of the state, open confrontations is the  modus operandi of area boys and armed street  urchins who have seen no good in the dignity that Western education bestows. In other areas such as Apapa, Mile 2 and Maryland, these armed pilfering by gangs usually numbering at least five  takes place during  traffic congestions.
In his reactions to this unwelcome  trend, police commissioner for the state  Fatai Owoseni admitted that he receives at least four alerts on his Twitter handle from citizens of the state but as is characteristic of the police hierarchy, claimed that the criminals  disguise themselves as street traders.
Though one cannot completely discredit the position  of  the commissioner, it is also reasonable to say that his claim is rather to slim an account for this rising trend.

Authorities should take responsibility to nip these acts in the bud.
