Following the seemingly unending gridlocks on Lagos roads and the unrelenting outcry from Lagos citizens, the state governor, Mr. Akinwumi Ambode, has sacked the Chief Executive Officer of the Lagos State Traffic Management Agency, LASTMA, Mr. Young Arabamen.
Chief Press Secretary to the governor released a statement on Monday announcing the appointment of Mr. Christian Olakpe a former Assistant Inspector General of police as the new CEO of the agency.
The governor was quoted as saying that Olakpe's appointment was a response to continuing complaints by Lagos citizens on the situation of traffic on Lagos roads.
In September, the governor had sacked the General Manager, LASTMA, Mr. Babatunde Edun and replaced him with Bashir Braimoh and has gone ahead to replace the CEO barely two months after.
Olakpe served as Force Public Relations officer under Tafa Balogun in 2003 and as Commissioner of Police in charge of Explosive Ordinance Disposal, Lagos. He also headed the Plateau and Bayelsa states police commands.
Christian is a graduate of Sociology and Anthropology from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka.
