FIFA U-17 WORLD CUP: NIGERIA BEATS MALI 2-0 TO RETAIN TITLE

Nigeria has won the FIFA U-17 World Cup for the fifth  time. The Golden Eaglets whipped their African opponents, Mali by two goals to retain the trophy been the defending champions. The goals came in a quick succession of three minutes in the second half . Nigeria had lost a penalty kick she earned just three minutes into the game and had to endure without success until the end of the first half.
Both goals came in the second half of the game from Osimhen and Bamgboye. With his ninth goal scored in the final, Victor Osimhen has surpassed the highest goal scoring record in the competition which had hitherto been eight goals; he also won the tournament's highest goal scorer's award, the golden boot and second  best player award . But he is not the only Nigerian youth who did. Kelechi Nwakali won the Silver Boot award and best player (golden ball award).
By this victory, Nigeria remains the most successful team at this level of the FIFA World Cup.

One must  however give credit to the Malian team; they did well too. Possession in the first half of the game was skewed to their favour; but if  only ball possession counted. The Mali side produced the best goal keeper (golden gloves award ) and the tournament's third best player (bronze boot award ).

Congratulations to Coach Amuneke and his lads.
