KANO SODOMY: RADIO JOURNALIST THREATENED FOR REPORTING INCIDENCE

A radio journalist with Freedom FM, Kano and Hausa correspondent for German broadcaster Deutsche Welle who reported the ugly incidence of sodomy at the Ibrahim Gwarzo school for boys in the state has come under threat.

Nasir Salisu Zango complained to the Committee to Protect Journalists, CPJ, that he had a visit on Thursday from three plain clothed men who claimed they were police officers and threatened to annihilate him if he did not discontinue report on the matter.
Reacting, the CPJ West Africa representative, Peter Nkanga said " the threat to Zango is a threat to the public's right to know what is happening in society".
"CPJ calls on Nigerians to ensure Zango's safety and apprehend the individuals behind the threat"

In  a radio programme 'Inda Ranka', Nasir had interviewed a 13-year-old boy who had been admitted to a hospital after been raped. The boy revealed that many new students were sexually violated by older students in the school. It has also been revealed that the school's authority is  preventing a lot more students from seeking treatment outside the school in an effort to curtail further revelations.

The school's proprietor Ibrahim Ayagi has denied knowledge of this and  equally threatened to seek legal action against Nasir for degrading the school.
