The Department of State Security Service, Nigeria, has released statements aimed at setting the records straight over news making the rounds that against a subsisting court order which permits the former National Security Advicer, Col. Sambo Dasuki to travel abroad for medical checks, its officers were only taking actions against Sambo's refusal to appear before a committee investigating a $2billion arms purchase deal by the immediate past administration.
The DSS insists that it was evident that the former NSA was doing everything he could to evade justice and paint the service in a bad light in public perception. The DSS had earlier stated that it was convinced that if allowed to travel out of the country, Dasuki would most likely not return to the country to face trial for charges of illegal possession of firearms and money laundering for which he's been prosecuted.
However, the former NSA has denied been invited by any such committee claiming that he is only aware of a committee existing in the office of the National Security Advicer but none at the DSS.
Did the crime? Do the time!
