Nigeria and Niger have reached advanced stages on arrangements to repatriate about 500 prisoners in detention in different facilities in Niger. Although no specific date for the return of the Boko Haram inmates has been stated, the planned return would happen sooner than later.
The prisoners are currently held in facilities in Koutoukale, Kollo and Diffa.
As disclosed by a magistrate involved in works on the case, “Nigeria sent a working group here (to Niger) last week and the two sides have established an initial list of 500 detainees who will soon be transferred to Nigeria.”
