OLBERT TO SERVE 18MONTHS REDUCED TERM

Former Israeli Prime Minister, Elhud Olbert is to serve 18 months in jail.

The Israeli supreme court ruled in a case in which he had been previously convicted of a bribery allegation regarding the development of a residential facility known as 'Holy Land'. He was sentenced in May 2014 to six years in prison on two counts of bribery. He was however acquitted of the charges on grounds that he was not involved directly in the bribery scandal.

The 70-year-old remarked thus:   “I never was offered and never accepted bribery. My whole life I have honored the Supreme Court’s decisions".
