FUEL SCARCITY: KADUNA RESIDENTS GROAN

Although one of the largest producers of oil in the world, Nigeria has among other ills, been constantly plagued with recurrent scarcity of  crude oil by-products particularly premium motor spirit, PMS.
Government-in and government-out, yet no administration seem to have an answer to this malady. In the wake of recent hardships engendered by the current scarcity of petrol, citizens in different regions of the country have come under tremendous hardship and unprecedented increase in the prices of  foodstuffs, transport fares and other daily basics.
In Kaduna state, a litre of PMS currently sells between 170 and 200 and can only be accessed from the black market. Residents accounts indicate that the prices of foodstuffs have risen to about three times their original prices.
In response to this scarcity and consequent hike in transport fares, many residents have had to abandon their private cars and resort to commuting via public transport to their respective work/business places. This they consider cheaper despite the exponential rise in transport costs.
This challenge is however not unique to Kaduna state. In the FCT, Lagos and other major  cities, unending queues continue to define the outlook of  major roads because motorists have had to wait endlessly for a seemingly unavailable commodity.

Nigerians continue to groan, pray and wait for her 'messiah' to liberate her from her many troubles.
