PRESIDENTS OF CHINA AND TAIWAN TO MEET FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE 1949

For the first time since 1949, the Presidents of  China Xi Jinping and Taiwan Ma Ying-Jeou will meet in  Singapore to discuss relations between the two countries.
Both countries split up following the China war in 1949 but despite the rift, China  has maintained trade relations with  Taiwan  and is Taiwan's biggest trade partner.
In the aviation industry, the two nations exchange several weekly flights between themselves and while Chinese banks operate branches in Taiwan, the latter equally has factories operating in China.
The meeting is expected to 'end' over six decades of rivalry between the two neighbours.
